1. The European Yoga Teachers Register (hereinafter: the Register) represents an official, centralised record of certified yoga teachers and instructors across Europe, established in accordance with the principles and statutes of the Yoga Federation of Europe.

The purpose of the Register is to ensure professional verification and the continuous improvement of the quality of yoga teaching, as well as to protect the integrity of yoga practice within the contemporary social context.

The Register has a professional and referential character and serves as a reliable source of information for yoga practitioners, educational institutions, and the general public.

2. Functions of the Register

The Register performs the following functions:

  • maintaining records of certified yoga teachers and instructors;
  • confirming compliance with professional and ethical standards;
  • improving the quality of teaching and practical application of yoga;
  • encouraging continuous professional and personal development;
  • preserving the authenticity and integrity of the yoga tradition within contemporary educational frameworks;
  • enabling international recognition and mobility of yoga instructors and teachers.

3. Requirements for Registration

A candidate may be entered into the Register if they meet the following criteria:

Formal education: completion of a yoga teacher or instructor training program at a recognized institution (accredited by the competent ministry), in accordance with the standards of the Yoga Federation of Europe;

  • Minimum training hours: clearly documented number of hours (theoretical and practical);
  • Personal practice: continuity in one’s own yoga practice;
  • Pedagogical competencies: ability to lead group and individual sessions;
  • Ethical standards: acceptance and application of the ethical code in professional work;
  • References / verification: confirmation by a mentor, school, or authorized organization;
  • Documentation: valid documentation of completed education and professional engagement.

4. Categories within the Register

The Register includes the following categories, in accordance with levels of competence and experience:

  • Yoga Instructor 200h
  • Yoga Teacher 500 or 550h
  • Yoga Master / Emeritus

5. Registration Procedure

The candidate submits an application for registration along with the required documentation.

An expert committee evaluates whether the criteria have been met.

In the case of a positive evaluation, the candidate is entered into the Register and granted the status of a verified yoga teacher/instructor.

6. Validity Period and Renewal

Registration in the Register for Yoga Instructors and Yoga Teachers is valid for 6 years from the date of approval.

To renew registration, the following is required:

  • proof of continuous practice and professional activity;
  • participation in continuing professional development programs (continuous education);
  • confirmation of adherence to ethical standards;
  • an updated professional biography.

The renewal process aims to maintain quality and encourage the continued development of yoga teachers.

7. Temporary Suspension and Removal from the Register

The Register provides the possibility of:

  • temporary suspension of status (upon personal request or due to inactivity);
  • removal from the Register in cases of non-compliance with requirements or violation of ethical principles.

Decisions are made by the competent committee in accordance with the regulations.

8. Final Provisions

The Register represents a dynamic professional framework that supports the development of yoga instructors and teachers as carriers of knowledge, practice, and responsibility.

Its purpose is not only to maintain records, but also to affirm conscious, responsible, and competent engagement in the field of yoga, in accordance with the values promoted by the Yoga Federation of Europe.

This document enters into force on the date of its adoption, 1. 1. 2016 by the competent body and applies to all candidates applying for registration in the Register.
